Calcium silicate pipe covering is pre-formed, high-temperature, abuse-resistant calcium silicate pipe insulation which is designed to protect high-temperature pipes and equipment.
It has exceptional structural strength, and can be used on operating systems that reach 1200°F (650°C), it is composed of hydrous calcium silicate and is made with XOX, a proprietary formula and process that inhibits corrosion to the outside surfaces of pipe and equipment. Calcium silicate insulation is inorganic, noncombustible, asbestos-free and meets or exceeds the physical and thermal property requirements of ASTM C533, Type 1.
Low Thermal Conductivity: Calcium silicate is an excellent insulator, effectively reducing heat transfer through pipes and equipment.
High Temperature Resistance: It can withstand extremely high temperatures, making it suitable for applications involving steam, hot water, and other high-temperature processes.
Good Mechanical Strength: Calcium silicate exhibits high compressive and flexural strength, allowing it to withstand physical abuse and vibration.
Lightweight: Calcium silicate is a relatively lightweight material, making it easy to handle and install.
Easy to Handle and Install: It can be cut, shaped, and installed relatively easily.
Asbestos-Free: Modern calcium silicate insulation products are asbestos-free, making them a safe and environmentally friendly alternative.
Calcium silicate insulation is typically applied on high-temperature (greater than 250°F) pipe and equipment in industrial facilities, such as chemical plants, refineries, and steam electric power plants. Since it is a rigid material that has a relatively flat thermal conductivity curve, extremely high compressive strength, high flexural strength, a Class A rating for Flame Spread/Smoke Developed, and is noncombustible (ASTM E136), it is widely used in high-temperature, industrial applications subject to physical abuse.
