NR-80 and NR-85 dense calcium silicate board is aluminum non-wetting with carbon fiber or glass fiber reinforced specially designed for molten aluminum casting and industrial furnaces structural insulation applications. It has excellent thermal shock resistance at high temperature up to 1000°C with a bulk density ranging from 810 to 1250 kg/m3. The materials are composed primarily of high purity calcium silicate and selected glass fibers or carbon fibers which enhance much its compressive and flexural strength, after heating processing the boards have a minimum low shrinkage which will avoid any cracking developing as a result of the thermal shrinkage. The boards are aluminum non-wetted and exhibit excellent machinable uniformity which makes it an ideal candidate material for many molten metals contact processing works, such as the transporting, distributions and flow control, casting of aluminum metals and the alloys. Because of its dimensional stability and machinable properties the boards can be made into different kinds of components used aluminum casting with excellent performance of high resistance to breakage during the casting processing, such as transition plates (T-plates), hot top rings, floats, spouts, caster tips, skim dams, trough, bushes etc.
